چکیده

Abstract We examine the intentional processes that correspond to conceptualizations of activities performed by subjects with intention achieving an objective. Taking as its basis a general framework processes, two types such process are considered: epistemic ones, aimed at acquiring knowledge about something, and poietic bringing something. The “something” is understood anything can pertain to: physical, mental or abstract object, phenomenon, state affairs, etc. generic features discussed, focus on: (1) common for well on differentiate them, (2) dynamic static (3) issues involved in controlling progression towards intended objectives. latter issue essential part our considerations, former establish necessary conceptual framework. presented analysis aims shedding light these aspects human which be considered virtually independent any specific area activity, it natural sciences, humanities technology.

Purely Epistemic Markov Decision Processes

Planning under uncertainty involves two distinct sources of uncertainty: uncertainty about the effects of actions and uncertainty about the current state of the world. The most widely developed model that deals with both sources of uncertainty is that of Partially Observable Markov Decision Processes (POMDPs). Simplifying POMDPs by getting rid of the second source of uncertainty leads to the we...

Late Vision: Processes and Epistemic Status

In this paper, I examine the processes that occur in late vision and address the problem of whether late vision should be construed as a properly speaking perceptual stage, or as a thought-like discursive stage. Specifically, I argue that late vision, its (partly) conceptual nature notwithstanding, neither is constituted by nor does it implicate what I call pure thoughts, that is, propositional...

Intentional Fragments: Bridging the Gap between Organizational and Intentional Levels in Business Processes

Business process models provide a natural way to describe real-world processes to be supported by software-intensive systems. These models can be used to analyze processes in the system-as-is and describe potential improvements for the system-to-be. There is however little support to analyze how well a given business process models satisfies its business goals. Our objective is to address these...

An Algebraic Theory of Epistemic Processes

In the past few years, several process-algebraic frameworks have been proposed that incorporate the notion of epistemic knowledge. These frameworks allow for reasoning about knowledge-related properties, such as anonymity, secrecy and authentication, in the operational specifications given in process-algebraic languages. Hitherto, no sound and (ground-)complete axiomatization has been given for...

Automatic and intentional memory processes in visual search.

Previous research has indicated that saccade target selection during visual search is influenced by scanning history. Already inspected items are less likely to be chosen as saccade targets as long as the number intervening saccades is small. Here, we adapted Jacoby's (1991) process dissociation procedure to assess the role of intentional and automatic processes in saccade target selection. Res...
